Meet the Face Behind Funktion For Life - Fitness and Health as a Lifestyle as a Lifestyle

I’m Nicole Funk, the proud owner of Funktion For Life - Fitness & Health as a Lifestyle.

I look forward to sharing my story and I hope you enjoy getting to know me better.

I grew up in a small town in northern British Columbia, where we spent eighty percent of our time involved in sport and outdoor activities. I learned the benefits of playing and moving your body from a young age and kept it with me into adulthood.

I was really passionate about health and fitness and decided to study recreation and health education at the University of Victoria, as well as achieving a minor in psychology. Combining the two subjects has brought me to where I wanted to be, teaching people how to achieve wellness through activity, nutrition, and self-care. 

Once I graduated, I started working in the health and fitness industry in 2004. Four years later, after learning the ropes, I started my own Personal Training and Health coaching business in Penticton, BC. Over the past fifteen years, I have gained a wealth of experience through working with individuals of various ages and fitness levels.

Recently, I have streamlined my focus to excel at personal training and semi-private training. I also offer online health consulting by phone and video calls so that I can help people all over the world. I truly believe that in order to feel optimal health - you can not only focus on one area - therefore I have expanded my training practice to a more holistic approach to wellness.

My enthusiasm for my profession grows stronger each year, as I believe there is no greater medicine than exercise, clean nutrition, and self-care to make one feel vibrant. It’s rewarding to help those who need encouragement to achieve happiness, optimum health, and inspire positive changes that last forever.

I also have a team of five amazing personal trainers, who have been empowered to coach clients to improve their lives through fitness and wellbeing. Having a team allows us to work together, share ideas and help more and more people feel their best.

Owning my own business allows me to implement my ideas and see them come alive, and I believe what sets us apart from the others is our approach to health, our genuine passion, and professionalism. We show up to each session with energy to motivate and education to teach new things and reach new heights. We work around our clients’ schedule making it super convenient for you and hold ourselves accountable to create success stories out of our clients.

When I am not working, you will find me doing my own self-care practices. Currently, as a busy mom of 3, I enjoy skiing with my family & friends, spin class, working out at home or at the gym and taking in some hot yoga.

I also strive and highly recommend to you and my clients to get fresh air daily (even if it’s just 5 minutes), to absorb the daylight and sunshine. The last tip would be to take a minimum of 5 minutes to focus on some form of breathwork or mediation.

At home, I love to play games, read, cook, and bake delicious food for my hungry, growing family.

My favorite form of reward is massage therapy, sauna time, and acupuncture. A couple things I can’t go without each day are amazing coffee and Swiss chocolate. Who’s with me!?
